malachi bryan pierce i'll be comin' with my guns up, shootin' at the moon to bring the sun up general info ALIAS smoke GENDER male AGE nineteen BIRTHDATE may 10 ORIENTATION bisexual AFFILIATION + POWER night stalker. smoke manipulation personality POSITIVE - trustworthy if there is anything malachi is, it is trustworthy. he doesn't reveal secrets and he never lies about someone who he has earned the trust of. his relationships with people are built upon this foundation and he prides himself on his ability to keep his promises and his reliability to others. in the end, it's all about who you trust - easy-going in the hustle and bustle of willow falls, it's always easy to get caught up in the anxiety of it all. except malachi never really gets keyed up about much at all. he tends to stay relaxed and goes with the flow to keep things simple. he's never been a big guy for freaking out or losing his temper. - caring malachi cares a lot about the people he holds close. he's willing to do just about anything for the people he considers friends and family. losing someone, to him, is much like losing a limb. his heart is sometimes much too big for his body and he cannot contain how much he cares for others. - natural-born leader leadership has always been one of malachi's strong suits. he's always been good at taking charge in situations of high pressure and can lead people through any tasks at hand. his presence commands respect, no matter how easy-going he may seem. - unshakable not much can faze malachi. it takes a lot to grind his gears or gross him out or make him cry. the amount of effort it takes to shake him is near herculean and most people are better off not trying at all. NEGATIVE - predictable predictability can be a good thing in certain situations, but in situations that the night stalkers get into, it is not. his predictability can get him into sticky situations especially if enemies figure out his patterns. - hard to through to he might care a lot for people and pride himself on trustworthiness, but to get through his unshakable nature you have to put through a lot of effort. becoming a friend or ally of his is a tough task and one that people don't really care to undertake. - defensive malachi is always on the defensive when it comes to conversations with others. he doesn't reveal too much about himself and he doesn't let himself get too invested in people without first knowing if they're people he's willing to give his all for. it's a balancing act for him to keep his caring and easy-going nature in line with his defensiveness and walled-heartedness. - mysterious no one knows anything about malachi and he likes to keep it that way. he doesn't like to tell people personal things about himself because he doesn't think it's important. this can prove hurtful because in situations where you need to know someone to save them, malachi has very few people on that list. - literal malachi is a very literal person. he doesn't get irony or jokes or any form of sarcasm all that easily and is often times confused by sardonic humor. idioms and phrases are lost on him and he can't help it. this often makes people believe he is more unapproachable than they previously assumed. biography born to parents lilly and nathaniel pierce, malachi pierce was raised in the city of homestead, florida. he was a happy child, smiling and carefree for most of his formative years. he was slightly slower at picking up social cues and things of that nature, and was later diagnosed with asperger's. the case was mild but left him with a limited understanding of social interactions and anecdotes. it made it hard for him to make friends so he kept mostly to himself. for a while he confided in only one adult, his p.e. teacher mr. brunswick. he didn't understand the man's intentions and only realized what was wrong between the two of them when another adult had reported mr. brunswick to the police. after that, malachi spent a long time feeling dirty. he chastised himself for not realizing sooner what had been going on, but he was just a child, how was he supposed to know? either way, he didn't take showers unless they were scalding, wouldn't eat food unless it burned his tongue, and would layer up even on the hottest florida days to make sure he stayed burning, burning hot. a few years after he began keep himself scorching hot, smoke begain to roil from his body. it was during the summer between middle and high school when he began to smoke at the public pool, his flesh cracking away into pillars of thick, fatty smoke. the patrons of the pool panicked, all of them beginning to phone whatever authority they had on speed dial as his body de-materialized before their eyes. somehow, malachi couldn't bring himself to be disgusted or scared. he felt facinated as he watched the skin he had deemed dirty and unclean wither way into plumes of smoke. not long after that, he was separated from his family - a dramatic affair with screeches and his body becoming intangible in the hands of the government officers - and sent to willow falls to live among the rest of the powered community of america. there he decided to start fresh, despite the horrific pain he suffered at the loss of his parents. all he knew for certain was that one day he was going to return to his parents and he absolutely knew he wasn't going to stop without a fight.
